Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Shorewise handles data in the current app experience based on the product behavior reviewed at the time this page was prepared.

This page is intended to reflect the current Shorewise product implementation. If the app's data flows, third-party services, permissions, or billing systems change, this policy should be updated as well.

1. Controller

Shorewise is operated by Adis Hadžić.

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, you can contact: adis7hadzic@gmail.com.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Shorewise handles personal data when you use the Shorewise app and the Shorewise website.

This policy is written with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in mind and is intended for users in Croatia and the European Union.

3. Data Shorewise Processes

Shorewise processes precise location data from your device while the app is in use so it can determine your position, estimate speed, calculate heading, and evaluate shoreline proximity.

Shorewise also processes app and device state needed for core functionality, including your selected county pack, vessel type, map type, unit preferences, vibration preferences, offline pack status, and similar in-app settings.

Shorewise does not currently require user accounts.

4. Why Shorewise Processes Data

Shorewise processes data to provide the app's core boating safety features, including map display, speed-related alerts, shoreline proximity checks, offline pack management, and related in-app explanations.

Where GDPR applies, the primary basis for this processing is that it is necessary to provide the functionality you request when using the app. In addition, some processing depends on permissions and choices you make on your device, such as location access.

5. Location Data

Shorewise uses foreground location data while the app is active. Based on the audited app behavior, Shorewise does not currently use background location tracking.

Location data is used to power live safety-related functionality. Based on the current app implementation reviewed, Shorewise does not maintain a separate cloud account database of your trip history.

6. Local Storage on Your Device

Certain information is stored locally on your device so the app can remember your settings and continue working as expected. This can include selected county, vessel type, map preferences, vibration settings, unit settings, and offline pack information.

Offline coastline pack files downloaded in the app are stored on your device until you remove them, clear app data, or uninstall the app.

7. Third-Party Services and Recipients

When you use Shorewise, some information may be processed by third parties that help deliver app functionality.

Map data may be provided through mapping providers used by the app, including Google Maps on supported Android configurations and the platform's default map provider on iOS.

Offline coastline packs are downloaded from external file hosting infrastructure.

If purchases are enabled through platform billing in the future, payment processing would be handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not directly by Shorewise.

Those providers may receive technical information such as your IP address, device or request metadata, and the fact that your device requested map or download content.

8. What Shorewise Does Not Currently Use

Based on the app audit performed for this policy, Shorewise does not currently require user accounts and does not currently include analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash-reporting SDKs, or push notification flows in active app logic.

If those features are added later, this Privacy Policy should be updated before or when they are introduced.

9. Audio and Alerts

Shorewise plays local alert sounds and vibration patterns on your device for safety-related notifications within the app.

Based on the current audited app behavior, Shorewise does not use microphone recordings to provide these alerts.

10. Sharing and Selling

Shorewise does not sell your personal data.

Shorewise shares data only to the extent needed to deliver functionality through service providers or where disclosure is required by law.

11. Retention

Data stored locally on your device generally remains there until you delete the relevant content, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.

Because Shorewise does not currently use accounts or a dedicated user backend based on the audited implementation, retained data is primarily local-device data and data processed by third-party infrastructure when your device makes requests to those services.

12. Your GDPR Rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing, and data portability.

You may also withdraw permissions you have granted on your device, such as location permission, at any time in your device settings.

To exercise privacy-related rights or ask a question about your data, contact adis7hadzic@gmail.com.

13. Children

Shorewise may be used by minors, but it is intended as a general boating safety app and not as a service specifically directed at children.

If you believe personal data relating to a child has been provided in a way that raises a privacy concern, contact adis7hadzic@gmail.com.

14. International Processing

Some third-party providers used to deliver Shorewise functionality may process data outside Croatia or outside the European Economic Area.

Where that occurs, the handling of data depends in part on the provider's own infrastructure and legal safeguards.

15. Changes to This Policy

Shorewise may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When this policy changes, the updated version will be posted with a revised effective date.
